As a previous board director and member of the senior management team across several organisations (some simultaneously!), I have developed years of experience working across the operational side of a business and all elements of organisational strategy & planning.
Areas of organisational strategy & planning include (but aren’t limited to):
- establishing propositions
- developing a route to market
- strategic business planning
- marketing strategies
- mergers and re-brands
- operating functions & processes
- KPI and OKR setting
- tool and technology selection
- financial forecasting and tracking
- facilitation and strategic direction
We need to set out a vision for the next 5 years and plan to get there.
Through a series of meetings, document/process reviews and workshops, I work closely with the leaders of the organisation to distil down from blue-sky thinking to agreeing specific priorities for the business.
Following on from these sessions we would work out a plan of action from the first 90 days through to the duration decided. Most strategies need be reviewed at one year and should remain fluid, however, that doesn’t mean there can’t be a long term goal and vision – in fact, the long game is often more rewarding.
The steps in this process are bespoke per objective agreed with each organisation and my input can be as strategic only or as involved with intricacies as needs require.
You understand our landscape – can you help facilitate and moderate our board strategy & planning sessions?
Working with the leader of the business to establish the broad purpose, role and desired outcomes, I then develop a bespoke Agenda, activities to get the brains moving, note hot topics and priorities that must be decided by the end.
On the days of the session, I will bring supplies and facilitate, time and take notes of the outcomes. Also ensuring we keep tabs on topics to be followed up on and decisions being made.
Following on from the sessions I provide documentation covering all the outcomes, plans/next steps, performance measurement targets and any other key information.
